When I had my daughter I often experienced her getting an upset tummy though I was always careful with my diet as I was breastfeeding her. I noticed foods like peas, citrus fruits, potatoes, cruciferous vegetables, and beans made her gassy and she was crying with pain.
I tried the grandma’s theory by applying asafoetida around her navel which temporarily relieved her. I also used to give her a mild peppermint tea to help to settle her tummy.
Being an aromatherapist, I blended oil for her that soothed her so she could sleep well and keep her settled and calm. I continued to use these essential oils after she started to wean and explored new food groups. That kept me and her at ease.
