In 2009 my joints started to swell up and felt stiff in the morning. It could be any joints and some days my knuckles, some days both my knees and other days it could be my wrists. Every day was a different experience. Sometimes it swelled up and sometimes it felt stiff with some pain and sometimes the area would just look red. As it started to get worse, I went to see my GP who referred me to the rheumatoid department at the hospital. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. They sent me to do physiotherapy which did not help me. When things got worse the doctors suggested to give me a dose of steroids. I was very against it and from that very evening, I researched about how to help myself, but while I was seeing the specialist, I was conscious of my diet.
I found out that I should avoid all the nightshade vegetables, as these vegetables contain a chemical which aggravates arthritis pain or causes inflammation. If consumed in high amounts, it can result in calcium deposits in the soft tissues of the body such as tendons ligaments heart and kidneys. It is thought that this calcification may play a role in osteoarthritis and coronary artery disease.
Within two weeks, I started to feel better with my joint pains. I was aware that frankincense essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties,so I was adding that to my carrier oil and having a massage. I still continue to avoid the nightshade vegetables and I eat mindfully. I regularly have turmeric powder with some ginger powder and black pepper added to it, and mixed in with some coconut oil or ghee as it has anti-inflammatory properties and it’s doing its job too. I can now move freely and painlessly.
For my joint pain I have blended my Essential Oil called EASE. This all helps to improve blood circulation has anti-inflammatory and energetic properties which can help to reduce swelling and pain from rheumatism.
